ThredUp – New Promo Codes + How To Save for Back to School Shopping!

I have three kids ranging from 6 to 16, so back to school shopping can get pricey if I don’t shop very carefully. One way that I like to make our clothing back to school budget stretch is to shop consignment for my kids, at ThredUp.

ThredUp 1

ThredUp is an online used kids clothing shop or an online consignment sale. A couple of things that I love about ThredUp:

  • Although they have a great inventory of gently used kids items , they also carry brand new items at great prices. To find these I search by “condition” and then select “new with tags on”.
  • They also carry school uniform items if you are looking for those for your kids.
  • You can sell your clothes back to them and make credit to spend on your shopping.
  • You can get $20 off your first order with them (so basically $20 in free clothing)!
  • They carry clothes for boys, girls and women (so its a great resource to find designer brand jeans for your teen girls on a budget!).

One of my kiddos celebrated a birthday party in August, and both girls wanted a special outfit to celebrate, so I let them wear one of their back to school outfits and get all dressed up. We found a Nicole Miller dress on ThredUp for $26 (this brand is selling for around $80 at Nordstrom for kids, or still over $50 on sale) so we splurged on this find!

In addition to our splurge items, we also found great brands like Gymboree, The Childrens Place, Justice and more for some great prices. We found a number of cute Gymboree tops for just $5.99 each, and perfect for fall. Shipping starts at around $2.99, or if you think you will be shopping throughout the year, you can pay $19.99 when you sign up to get free shipping all year after that initial fee.

We also did much of our school shopping through ThredUp last year, and the clothes held up great. We still have many of the items that we got last year, in the kids closet and in great shape! I have been shopping ThredUp for the last few years and to date have liked everything we got.

ThredUp offers clothes for both girls and boys, plus items for women as well. In addition to buying clothing, you can also sell your clothes on ThredUp and earn either cash or credit to shop with too, so that is one more option to really make your budget stretch!

Disclosure: ThredUp has provided us a credit to shop for our kids to review for you, as well as provide the credit that will be given to  a Thrifty NW Mom winner randomly chosen.  All opinions are 100% mine. See our disclosure policy  for more details.
